Bill Murray. Tina Fey. Stephen Colbert. Amy Poehler. Where do stars come from? Just like comic book super heroes, they too have an origin story, and it begins at The Second
City. The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959. No one could have guessed that this small cabaret theatre would become the most influential and prolific comedy theatre in the world.
This summer The Second City presents the next generation of comedy superstars in Summer Blockbuster. Leave your 3-D glasses at home, because the explosions of
laughter will be real. There will not be real explosions. But surprises abound as Chicago’s famed Second City ensemble combines great sketch comedy with on-the-fly improv to
create new sidesplitting, knee-slapping (and sometimes groan-inducing) realities out of thin air.
Recommended for mature audiences.
