The Sounds of Deep Ellum serves as a time capsule of the current era, featuring a diverse group of musicians who add meaning to the cultural fabric of the neighborhood. The project’s goal is to capture the richness and diversity of the Dallas’ music scene, and highlight the city’s best performers on a single album.
For decades, the Deep Ellum neighborhood has commanded the attention of international musicians with homegrown superstars like Tripping Daisy, Old 97s, Toadies, Charley Crockett, and Erykah Badu all playing a central role in keeping the culture alive. The preservation of Deep Ellum is essential to the soul of Dallas. This album serves as proof of the importance of this iconic neighborhood – a neighborhood celebrating its 150th anniversary!
PNC Patio Sessions Side B features:
Chilldren of Indigo
Chilldren of Indigo is the colorful creative brainchild of Jo Indigo. This Kaleidoscope of musical personalities originally started out as just a group of street musicians who performed on the sidewalks of Deep Ellum. The group’s hauntingly unique sound is a submarine submerged in the Deep of R&B, Classic Soul occasionally coming up for air to breathe in funk – hip-hop.
Ducado VeGA’s music can be described as funky with the heavy hands of both soul and searing guitar riffs. Known for his over the top live performances, guitar solos and general “all or nothing”, attitude towards music, VeGA is a powerhouse of energy, showmanship and artistic prowess.
Randy McGill is a drummer, keyboardist, organist and producer who performs with an unmatched dexterity. His stage show is a wonder to see. He and his band create what one would call absolute magic on stage. He is an unstoppable musical powerhouse.
DJ Ducado VeGa will be performing between sets.
