About the show

In celebration of The Dallas Opera production of Show Boat, the AT&T Performing Arts Center proudly presents Diana Sheehan sings the Jerome Kern Songbook. Considered by many to be the father of the American Musical, Kern collaborated with the greatest lyricists of his day leaving us a treasure trove of some of the most gorgeous melodies ever written. Songs include: “All the Things You Are”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “A Fine Romance”, “The Way You Look Tonight” and many others. Musical direction is by James McQuillen.

About the Artist

Diana Sheehan has appeared off-Broadway, on National Tours and in regional theatres across the country. She was a member of the New York and Boston companies of the long running satirical revue, Forbidden Broadway. Dallas theatre credits include: Grey Gardens, Full Gallop, All My Sons, The Realistic Joneses, Putting It Together, Black Pearl Sings, Shooting Star (Watertower Theatre); Arsenic and Old Lace (Dallas Theatre Center); Vanya&Sonia&Masha&Spike (Uptown Players); The Sound of Music (Casa Mañana) and As Thousands Cheer (Lyric Stage). Ms. Sheehan’s cabaret performances have been produced at New York’s Triad, San Francisco’s Plush Room, Boston’s Club Cafe and locally at Sammons Cabaret and Amphibian Stage. Her cabaret shows Midway:Crisis or Carnival?, Nobody’s Hart, Searching for Gertrude Lawrence and The Jerome Kern Songbook have all been featured at the Out Of the Loop Fringe Festival where she was voted “Best of Loop” 2012, 2013 and 2016 by festival audiences.
