The big brains from Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas are here to take your health from zero to hero, with panels moderated by KERA’s Sam Baker, host of Morning Edition. The series occurs three times this fiscal year and Center staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, members and guests are invited to get expert advice for supercharged wellbeing. Join us on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Hamon Hall, when the powerhouse health team from Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas will discuss gastro-intestinal health, and methods of treating and preventing acid reflux / heartburn and other GI conditions.

The panel of healthcare professionals will be moderated by the mellifluous Sam Baker of KERA’s Morning Edition and will answer your questions about creating a healthier you.


Dr. Steve Leeds: medical director, minimally invasive surgery at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas specializing in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a term to describing contents from the stomach splashing up into the esophagus.

Dr. Themis Dassopoulo: medical director, center for inflammatory bowel diseases, Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Dassopoulos is a nationally recognized expert in the IBDs: Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, microscopic colitis and pouchitis.

Julie Smith: registered and licensed dietitian, Outpatient Nutrition Counselor in the Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, Nutrition Counselor for the Integrative Medicine Program.
