Free Local Music

Sorry this Patio Sessions has been cancelled due to the weather. Please join us next Thursday!

Salim Nourallah is a North Texas music scene fixture. After gaining initial acclaim with the Denton-based Nourallah Brothers he has gone on to release several solo albums and produce a fine list of many others (including the Old 97s, Rhett Miller, Deathray Davies & Carter Albrecht). His solo debut Polaroid (2004) was met with reviews like this one: “discovering a singer-songwriter who can stop time is rare, but Salim Nourallah is such a find…” (Rolling Stone). Beautiful Noise followed in 2006 to more critical acclaim and he swept the Observer music awards with Best Album/Best Song and Best Producer. Salim has gone on to win 5 consecutive Observer Awards for Best Producer. His 5th solo cd, Hit Parade, is slated for release in April 2012 by the German indie label, Tapete Records.

J. Paul Slavens has been with KXT since its inception in 2009 but is a well-known presence on the radio dial having previously hosted a Sunday night music show on KXT’s sister station KERA-FM since 2004. He brings to the program a diverse, seemingly random mix of styles, genres and time periods. He also conducts a live Blog during his show and makes listener suggestions a large part of the playlist.
Paul is also well known in the North Texas area for his work as a multi-instrumentalist with bands like Ten Hands, the Baptist Generals and The Travoltas. He also frequently performs an Improvisational Musical Comedy show and won the 2011 Dallas Observer Music Award for Best Jazz Act. In 2011 he released Alphabet Girls, an album of original songs.
Paul is also a composer, and his works have been performed at the Dallas Museum of Art, the McKinney Avenue Contemporary and numerous churches, campuses and schools around the area.

Chris Holt is a Dallas-based musician: singer, songwriter, and guitar virtuoso. The list of bands Holt has either fronted, lent his guitar magic to, or supported is an overwhelming history of the last decade-plus of Midwestern rock. Chris has won the prestigious Dallas Observer Music Award’s Musician of the Year for the last two years (2005 and 2006) and Best Instrumentalist in 2006. Chris can also be found on stage with Dallas notables Sorta and Salim Nourallah and the Noise.
