Brass and Jazz in the Park Makes Its Way to Mattie Nash-Myrtle Davis Park

Free Event’s Third Year Celebrates Contributions of Women Artists to Jazz Culture
Presented by AT&T Performing Arts Center’s ArtsBridge – Powered by Toyota; Curated by Michelle N. Gibson of The New Orleans Original BuckShop
(DALLAS) – The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center program ArtsBridge – Powered by Toyota is presenting its 3nd Annual Brass and Jazz in the Park in Mattie Nash-Myrtle Davis Park in West Dallas. The year’s theme “Sistahs of Jazz” focuses on the contributions women of color have given to the vernacular and history of Jazz. The exciting initiative is a partnership between the Center and The New Orleans Original BuckShop.
“The Center is honored to bring Brass and Jazz in the Park back to West Dallas, this time at a new location,” says Warren Tranquada, AT&T Performing Arts Center President and CEO. “And we’re especially excited to highlight some of the women artists who have made such a difference in Jazz.”
Brass and Jazz in the Park is a FREE, family-friendly, community event with RSVP.

Brass and Jazz in the Park will feature different genres of Jazz music and dance, New Orleans Brass, Black Mardi Gras Indians, Louisiana cuisine, family art activities and a New Orleans Second Line!
“We are so excited to shift the focus of Brass and Jazz in the Park to the ‘Sistahs’ of Jazz culture,” says Michelle N. Gibson, Founder and Grand Marshal of The New Orleans Original BuckShop. “Women and their contributions to arts are frequently ignored. This is an incredible opportunity to share their stories and the history of women in Jazz and bring it to the forefront of the Dallas community.”

The event will also feature the Brass and Jazz Market, proudly sponsored by TexasBank. The market will be a diverse hub for BIPOC vendors, artists, and artisans, and a harmonious fusion of culture and creativity. New Orleans-style food and beverages will be available for purchase. Alcohol will not be permitted on the premises. Blankets and lawn chairs are highly recommended.

(DALLAS) – El programa sin fines de lucro del AT&T Performing Arts Center ArtsBridge – Powered by Toyota presenta su 3er festival anual Brass and Jazz en el Parque en el parque Mattie Nash-Myrtle Davis del oeste de Dallas. El tema de este año, “Sistahs of Jazz”, se centra en la contribución que las mujeres de color han hecho a la lengua vernácula y a la historia del jazz. Esta emocionante iniciativa es el resultado de la asociación entre el Centro y The New Orleans Original BuckShop.
“El Centro se honra de traer nuevamente el festival Brass and Jazz en el Parque al oeste de Dallas, esta vez en un nuevo lugar”, afirma Warren Tranquada, Presidente y Director General del AT&T Performing Arts Center. “Y estamos especialmente conmovidos por destacar a algunas de las artistas femeninas que han hecho la diferencia en el ámbito del Jazz”.

El mercado será un punto de encuentro plural de vendedores, artistas y artesanos BIPOC y una armoniosa fusión de cultura y creatividad. Se podrá adquirir comida y bebida al estilo de New Orleans. No se permitirá el consumo de alcohol en el predio. Se recomienda especialmente el uso de mantas y sillas de jardín.
