CENTER SHOWS SWEEP “BEST-OF” LISTS

Between praise for its resident companies, TITAS or Center Presents programs, the AT&T Performing Arts Center campus is where some of the best performances and important new works can be found.

Critic Arnold Wayne Jones ranked Once among his list of the ten best stage shows of 2014.

Critic Mark Lowry named Once the best national tour of the year.

Off Broadway On Flora
Dallas Voice (The Year in Entertainment 2014: Actor)
Buyer & Cellar star Michael Urie made critic Arnold Wayne Jones’ list of best actors.

Mark Lowry listed the series among the best theatre trends of 2014 and Buyer and Cellar among the best small-scale tours tours. TheaterJones also praised The Second City which visited Dallas City Performance Hall. (The Year in Comedy)

Writer Lindsey Wilson praises DTC’s reinvention of old standbys.

Critic Mark Lowry listed Oedipus el Rey, directed by Kevin Moriarty, on his top 10 and The Fortress of Solitude in his top 20. Additionally, Lowry put Oedipus el Rey, The Fortress of Solitude and A Christmas Carol among the “provocative work that continued the conversation about race and/or class.” Oedipus El Rey also received a nod among the best ensemble casts.

Critic Arnold Wayne Jones included The Fortress of Solitude and Oedipus Rey on his list of top ten stage shows of 2014. He also included Oedipus Rey actors Philippe Bowgen and Sabina Zuniga on his best actor list, as well as Steven Walters for his turn as Thenardier in Les Misérables.

Fort Worth Weekly (Best of Culture 2014)
Texas Ballet Theater dancers swept the solo dance categories in Fort Worth Weekly’s “best-of” list. Ballerina Carolyn Judson won best female solo dance performance and Lucas Priolo nabbed best male solo dance performance.

TITAS
TheaterJones (The Year in Dance)
Four TITAS Presents programs (Mark Morris Dance Group, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Shen Wei Dance Arts and Motionhouse Dance Theatre) landed in the top ten dance honors.

Elevator Project
Art and Seek (Critic’s Choice: 2014)
Anne Bothwell praised the Center for updating the theatre experience for a new generation.
TheaterJones (The Year in Dance and the Year in Theater)
Danielle Georgiou Dance Group made the best-of list at number 10 for its emotionally potent dance routines. Mark Lowry listed the project among the best theatre trends of 2014, Year of the Rooster in his top 10 local productions, and Joey Folsom for his great performance in it.
