Open Stages provides North Texas high school students with opportunities to attend high-caliber performances at the Center’s premier venues. For many students, this is their first time experiencing a live professional performance. In addition to seeing a show, students attend preshow workshops taught by local teaching artists. These workshops touch upon specific themes of the show, allowing the students to gain a holistic understanding of the performance they are about to see.
For the 2018/2019 school year, students will attend three Open Stages performances:
- DIAVOLO, a renowned dance company that uses movement to explore the relationship between the human body and architecture;
- A Christmas Story, a musical based on the classic 1983 movie about a young boy scheming to get the holiday gift of his dreams; and
- Falsettos, a Tony-nominated musical about the infinite possibilities that make up a modern family.
