Robin Plata, Director of Development
Robin Plata joined the AT&T Performing Arts Center team in June 2022 as Director of Development after almost 12 years at one of its resident companies, Dallas Theater Center.
Originally from Natchitoches, Louisiana, the home of Steel Magnolias, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theater, Robin moved to Dallas in 2008. After graduating from Southern Methodist University’s dual masters M.A./M.B.A. program in Art Administration she became the Manager of Events at Dallas Theater Center. Since then Robin has successfully planned and executed over 200 special events including cocktail receptions, luncheons, seated dinners, corporate meetings and workshops, behind-the-scenes access events, and eight large-scale fundraising galas.
In 2013 Robin became the Manager of Corporate Relations and Events, continuing to execute special events while adding all Corporate fundraising. In 2016 Robin was promoted to DTC’s Associate Director of Development, shifting her portfolio from Corporate fundraising to Individuals, including major gifts. In 2020 Robin was promoted to Director of Development, managing a five-person team responsible for raising approximately $5 million each year. In nearly 12 seasons at Dallas Theater Center, Robin raised over $12 million, including over $1.6 million in emergency funding during the COVID-19 pandemic. In her current role as Director of Development, Robin manages the Center’s Annual Fund, including Center Circle memberships, Foundation and Government grants, and the annual Bravo! Gala.
When she’s not at the Center, she is chasing around her three kids—twins Taylor and Evie, and baby Benjamin.
