Our 2016-2017 season includes two New York Times Best Theater picks of 2015, Constellations, and The Christians; a world-premiere musical from the creator of FLY, titled Bella: An American Tall Tale_; the classic historical drama, Inherit the Wind; a reinvented Greek tragedy, Electra; the family-friendly musical Hood, inspired by the timeless tales of Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest; and an edgy, dark comedy by an African-American playwright that is so hot that we can’t tell you the title just yet. But we will, in March, and you’ll be the first to know.
DTC’s 2017-2018 season includes the tegional premiere of Mary Shelley’s terrifying and heartbreaking classic, Frankenstein; an only-at-the-Wyly immersive production of the rock musical, Hair; The Great Society, the sequel to last season’s smash hit All the Way; the world premiere of The Trials of Sam Houston, which sheds an exhilarating new light on our colorful Texas history; the world premiere of a powerfully lurid, Southern Gothic, family drama, Miller, Mississippi; a new comic-drama, Fade, about two Mexican Americans who connect behind-the-scenes in contemporary Hollywood; and White Rabbit Red Rabbit, the lively global sensation that no one is allowed to talk about.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) celebrates its 40th anniversary during the 2016-2017 season: 40 Years Forward, from history to innovation. the season’s theme reflects the trajectory of the company that has maintained its excellence in artistry as it has developed into a world renowned dance organization. This season includes four world premieres including a commissioned work that reflects the legacy of the organization; and another utilizing innovative technology to create a unique audience experience. Two Dallas premieres by Ballet and Modern Dance masters demonstrate the power and eloquence of DBDT dancers. DBDT’s season promises captivating performances all year long.
