The Hope Trust makes thinkers’ rock in Denton, Texas. Channeling a blend of Americana, timeless pop, and rock ‘n’ roll that hooks lovers of Neil Finn, Wilco, and The Wallflowers, frontman Kelly Upshaw pens songs that steadily unfold, leading captive listeners through a field of sonic space. The result is a high-energy show that’s cerebral but accessible. In 2007, The Hope Trust released The Incurable Want, to local critical acclaim. This record and it’s subsequent supporting shows garnered The Hope Trust a nomination for the Dallas Observer Music Awards for “Best Roots/Americana Act.“In 2011, The Hope Trust released Light Can’t Escape. The record marked a divergence from the americana sound, as the band started to explore a different energy. Light Can’t Escape hits a pretty broad spectrum. The single “Throw Me Overboard,” has proved to be a steady staple on DFW radio. The Hope Trust is currently at work recording it’s third album.
