The AT&T Performing Arts Center is committed to achieving a high level of participation in construction by minority- and women-owned businesses. To help reach its goals, the Center has appointed K Strategies to serve as its Minority and Women Owned Enterprise (MWBE) consultant. Under the leadership of president Katrina Keyes, K Strategies aims to increase participation of minority- and women-owned businesses in the construction of the AT&T Performing Arts Center. The $354 million arts and entertainment center, which includes four performance venues, a park and two underground parking garages, is currently under construction and will open in the Dallas Arts District in fall 2009.
Several minority- and women-owned businesses already have important contracts in the construction of the Center, including LopezGarcia Group, Gentzler Electrical Services, Inc., Tomas Reyes Trucking and Tin Man Enterprises.
Katrina Keyes has more than 15 years of experience in the areas of MWBE programs, public affairs and procurement. She is president of K Strategies Group LLC, a public affairs firm specializing in MWBE programs, public information programs and community relations for major construction and development projects. Major projects include the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, City of Dallas Mercantile Block project, Texas A&M University System and Texas Department of Transportation. Ms. Keyes is also involved in numerous civic organizations and has been recognized with several awards for her work, including "Small Business of the Year Award" by the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and "Advocate of the Year Award" by the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Business Council.
As MWBE consultant for the AT&T Performing Arts Center, K Strategies Group works closely with the design and construction team at the Center, as well as with the two general contractors constructing the new venues, Linbeck and McCarthy, to raise awareness of the project among minority- and women-owned businesses.
