David Denson, Director of Programming
David Denson is the Director of Programming for the nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center where he’s responsible for the curation of the acclaimed Center Presents series of popular music, comedy and special programming. Notably, David created the Off Broadway On Flora series and the critically acclaimed Elevator Project, which provides performance space in the Dallas Arts District for local theatre companies.
Previously, David spent two years with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs where he opened Dallas City Performance Hall in 2012. He managed the City’s Free Night of Theatre initiative and led the campaign to bring the 2013 Theater Communications Group National Conference to North Texas.
Locally, David regularly directs plays for Upstart Productions, WaterTower Theatre, Shakespeare Dallas, University of North Texas, University of Dallas and Southern Methodist University; and served as the Artistic Associate and resident Dramaturg at the Dallas Theater Center; and has helmed six world premieres and seven regional premieres.
David is a founding member of the New York City-based Anomalous Collective and received his BFA in Performance from East Carolina University and his MFA in Directing from Southern Methodist University.
